Is it permissible for a girl to chat with a young man on WhatsApp in a way that goes beyond studies and includes talk about girls' admiration for him, and for communication to continue without her parents' knowledge?

Conversation between a man and a non-mahram (definition) woman is impermissible except out of necessity and with adherence to the Islamic guidelines, because it can be a gateway to temptation and the spread of vice, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated: "I have not left behind me any temptation more harmful to men than women," and "Indeed, the first trial of the Children of Israel was concerning women." A Muslim must beware of the whispers of Satan, as Allah Almighty warned: "O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan." Instead, young men and women should strive for uprightness and reform themselves and others.
