A woman is not permitted to travel without a (unmarriageable kin), based on the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) saying: "A woman shall not travel except with a mahram." This applies to everything that can be described as travel. Most scholars are of the opinion that a woman is not allowed to travel without a mahram, with the exception of the obligatory Hajj and pilgrimages.
