Is it permissible for a woman to wear the niqab on her face while performing the rituals of Hajj?

A woman covering her face with a burqa or niqab during her state of ihram (definition) is among the prohibited acts, due to the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The woman in ihram should not wear a niqab nor wear gloves." However, she must let a garment fall from above her head over her face if non-mahram (definition) men pass close to her, as 'Aisha and the female Companions did. This ruling applies generally to all rituals of Hajj.
