Is it permissible to employ women in the reception of a private medical clinic?

It is permissible for a woman to work in a clinic exclusively in the women's section, provided she does not mix with men, receive them, or speak with them. However, if she mixes with men, receives them, and speaks with them, then her work is not permissible. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen holds that the mixing of men and women in the workplace is forbidden due to the corrupting effects it causes, such as the loss of modesty in women and dignity in men. He asserts that this contradicts Islamic law and the practice of the righteous predecessors, citing as evidence the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, separating the places of women from men during acts of worship. As for Sheikh Al-Fawzan, he believes that a woman's work must be within permissible bounds, far from temptation and mixing with non-mahram (definition) men.
