What is the ruling on a woman speaking fluently in front of non-direct men to explain her position, with the fear of temptation (fitna), and is it permissible for her to debate with a man when necessary without softening her voice, and what are the legitimate solutions to ward off lust?

It is permissible for a woman to speak eloquently with non-mahram (definition) men and discuss with them when there is a need, provided she adheres to the Islamic etiquettes of covering and modesty, does not soften her speech, and there is no private seclusion between them. Indeed, the women of the Companions used to speak with and discuss matters with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. However, the jurists have been strict regarding a young woman conversing with non-mahram men, out of caution against temptation (fitnah).
