Is it permissible to recite the Qur'an over sheep to protect them from the evil eye?

It is permissible to recite the Qur’an with the intention of protecting animals from the evil eye and envy, based on the general texts regarding healing with the Qur’an, and the existence of specific texts in this regard, such as Abdullah ibn Mas'ud's ruqyah (definition) for a foal afflicted by the evil eye, and the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) supplication for Hanzalah, which included animals, in addition to the inanimate objects and animals being affected by the Qur’an. Scholars have issued fatwas permitting this, by analogy with ruqyah for humans, among them Ibn Jibreen, Al-Albani, and Al-Fawzan.
