The answer

Scholars have differed on the issue of repenting from one sin while persisting in another. The correct view, according to the majority of scholars, is the permissibility and validity of repenting from a sin while persisting in another, because repentance is divisible. Ibn al-Qayyim holds that repentance is not valid for a sin while persisting in another sin of the same type (e.g., repenting from one type of usury while persisting in another type of usury). However, repentance is valid for a sin while committing another sin that is unrelated to it (e.g., repenting from usury while persisting in drinking alcohol).
