Is relaying words genuinely spoken to another person with the intention of advising and warning them considered backbiting (namimah)? And is informing a girl of what her ex-boyfriend said about her, without her knowledge, considered backbiting or discord (fitnah)?

Backbiting (namimah (definition)) is the نقل الكلام (conveyance of speech) between people with the aim of causing discord. It is forbidden and resembles the work of sorcerers and devils in separating people. However, if backbiting is a necessary means to achieve a predominant legitimate interest or to avert a harm, and no other means exist, then it is not prohibited. Similarly, conveying speech about a suitor to a girl, if not necessitated by a predominant legitimate interest, is considered backbiting. It is important to emphasize the prohibition of emotional relationships outside the bounds of legitimate marriage, the necessity of keeping company with the righteous, and the caution against associating with those who do not respect the sacred limits of Allah.
