Is it permissible for a woman to take contraceptives to avoid pregnancy, which might complicate matters further with her husband, especially in light of ongoing marital problems and the absence of tranquility, security, and financial support?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
If contraception is temporary, for the purpose of spacing between pregnancies, there is no harm in it, provided the husband consents. This should be done using methods of contraception that do not involve exposing private parts or affect future fertility, such as pills, injections, or condoms. However, IUDs, tubal ligation, and similar methods should be avoided. It is advised to strive to maintain the marital relationship, for perhaps procreation strengthens affection.
