Is it permissible to tie the fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy in cases of repeated cesarean sections and the existence of health contraindications to using other birth control methods?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
Sterilization operations, whether for men or women, are not permissible unless there is a religiously recognized necessity, such as a definite or probable danger to the mother's or fetus's life during pregnancy, or the mother suffering from illnesses she cannot bear due to it, and no temporary means of contraception are available. If doctors determine that pregnancy poses a danger to you and no temporary means are available, then there is no harm in undergoing a tubal ligation.
