Does a physician's work, staying overnight, and shifts in the hospital fall under the Hadith: "Two eyes will not be touched by the Fire: an eye that wept from the fear of Allah, and an eye that spent the night guarding in the path of Allah," and is he considered among those who are on the frontier (Murabitun)? And what is the virtue of a physician's work in Islam?

Firstly: The meaning of "an eye that guarded in the path of Allah" refers to standing guard in jihad, whether by guarding the army from the enemy or guarding the frontiers. No one has mentioned expanding the meaning to include a doctor on call, although they have mentioned Hajj and seeking knowledge as acts in the path of Allah.

Secondly: Medicine is one of the most honorable sciences after the science of Sharia (definition), due to its role in preserving bodies. Imam Al-Shafi'i believed that knowledge is of two types: the knowledge of religion (Fiqh) and the knowledge of the world (medicine), and he yearned for what Muslims had neglected concerning medicine. If a doctor has a good intention, they will be greatly rewarded, because their work falls under beneficence, relieving distress, and benefiting people, and Allah loves those who do good. The work of a doctor is considered among the most beneficial deeds for people and most beloved to Allah. Whoever eases a difficulty for someone or relieves distress will receive Allah's aid. Therefore, a doctor should consider their work as an act of worship and purify their intention for Allah, and not forget their share of acts of worship, remembrance of Allah (dhikr), and recitation of the Quran.
