The answer

A Muslim must ensure that their dealings are -compliant, and it is not permissible for them to invest in a company whose transactions are forbidden by Sharia. The on company shares is paid as follows:

1. If the investment is for the purpose of benefiting from the annual yield, zakat is obligatory on the yield (a quarter of a tenth, i.e., 2.5%) after the completion of a hawl (lunar year), and there is no zakat on the original share if its assets are fixed. However, if they are trade goods, zakat is due on both the capital and the profit. 2. If the investment is for the purpose of trading, the shares are subject to zakat as trade goods, and their market value (a quarter of a tenth, i.e., 2.5%) is zakatable along with the profit upon the completion of a hawl. 3. If the company pays zakat, this is considered sufficient on behalf of the shareholders. 4. If shares are sold during the hawl, their price is added to the seller's wealth and zakat is paid on it along with their wealth when their zakat hawl is due. As for the buyer, they pay zakat on the shares they purchased according to the aforementioned rules.
