The answer

"Tawarruq" is the act of buying and selling commodities to obtain money. This involves purchasing a commodity on installment and then selling it for cash to a third party at a lower price. If tawarruq is combined with murabaha, the bank buys the commodity and sells it to the client in installments, after which the client undertakes to sell it for cash. Organized banking tawarruq (authorizing the bank to sell the commodity) is prohibited by a resolution of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy. For tawarruq involving shares, it is stipulated that the shares must be pure (-compliant), and the bank must own them or transfer them to its portfolio before selling them.
