Is it permissible to use Christmas lottery money distributed to workers in Canada, or to donate all or part of it?

Lottery tickets are a form of gambling, which is forbidden by religious texts and scholarly consensus. Muslims working in companies that deal with them must not accept them and should return them. If they cannot return them, they should destroy them. It is not permissible to sell them or await their results. It is also not permissible to benefit from lottery tickets, even if their owner did not pay for them.
