Is money earned from network marketing for a British company operating in the tourism sector, where 950 Riyals are required for a holiday, and then two other people are required to be convinced to pay the same amount for profits to increase in a hierarchical manner, considered unlawful (haram)?

Network marketing, which requires the participant to pay a sum for subscription, whether it be fees or purchasing a product, is impermissible. This is because, in reality, the participant pays this amount to join the company's network system with the aim of obtaining large sums of money if they form a hierarchical network. This transaction is based on gharar (definition) (excessive uncertainty), gambling, and devouring people's wealth unjustly. Allah Almighty said: "O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone altars [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may succeed" (Al-Ma'idah:90), and He said: "O you who have believed, do not consume one another's wealth unjustly" (An-Nisa:29).
