What is the share of each heir from the deceased's estate, which includes a father, two grandmothers (maternal grandmother and paternal grandmother), a great-grandmother (paternal grandfather's mother), and two full sisters, knowing that the deceased has expiations and debts?
If the heirs are limited to those mentioned, then the maternal grandmother receives one-sixth, and the remainder goes to the father by virtue of 'asaba (agnatic kinship), based on the : "Give the Fara'id (prescribed shares) to those who are entitled to them; and whatever remains is for the closest male." The two sisters are excluded by the father. The paternal grandmother (father's mother) does not inherit due to the presence of the father, according to most scholars. The debts of the deceased and his expiations are to be settled from his estate before its distribution. The matter of inheritances must be referred to the courts to verify all heirs, bequests, and debts.
