What is the ruling on the money given to me by a commercial insurance company after my car burned, knowing that insurance is compulsory?

Commercial insurance is forbidden (haram (definition)). However, if one is compelled to subscribe to it, there is no sin upon him. But he is not permitted to take more than he has paid. If the amount paid was 830, then you are only entitled to that amount. The remainder must be given away to the poor and needy, unless you yourself are poor, in which case you may take from it what suffices your needs. What you paid to a previous insurance company does not permit you to take it from the second company. However, you are allowed to demand the first company to refund the amount, and if they refuse, you may take it from them if possible.
