Is it obligatory to continue advising someone who persists in error without excuse? And is reminding someone who has wronged and overstepped against a scholar of his grave action contrary to the prophetic guidance if the aim is to learn lessons and serve the community's interest, or is he right in claiming that reminding him of his sin is not necessary?

Mutual advice among Muslims and their cooperation in righteousness and piety are among the most emphasized Sharia (definition) requirements. It is a right of a Muslim upon his brothers that they be patient with him, repeatedly advise him, and frequently supplicate for him if he errs, drawing inspiration from the patience of the Prophets. One of the most important means of correcting an error is to clarify the ruling and discuss it, regardless of who uttered it. As for one who repents, he must be concealed, and he should not be disgraced.
