Is it permissible in Sharia for me to pay my brother a sum of money for him to return it with interest after one year, with the intention of using the full amount to dig a deep well for the public benefit of me, my brother, my sister, and my father's wife, especially after my brother backed out of a previous agreement to dig the well and caused me financial harm, knowing that the amount I will pay him was obtained from the bank and my brother will be responsible for paying the interest when returning the amount?

The objective of digging a well that benefits everyone does not justify committing the sin of a usurious loan. It is not permissible to borrow or lend with usurious interest, because usury is one of the gravest sins, and it is forbidden by the Qur’an, the , and scholarly consensus. Scholars have unanimously agreed that every loan with a stipulated increase is unlawful and usurious, as Ibn Qudamah stated: "Every loan in which an increase is stipulated is unlawful, without dispute."
