The question

Is it permissible to purchase gold online for investment or trading purposes if there is no physical possession (قبض) at the time of the contract, given that the purchase price from the store directly is 5% higher than the market price? And is it permissible to purchase gold online if it will be given away entirely as charity to avoid the 5% increase added by the seller, along with the resulting suspicion of riba al-nasia (interest due to delay)?

The answer

For the sale and purchase of gold with currency to be valid, both commodities must be seized in the contracting session. It is not permissible to trade gold via the Internet or electronic applications if the condition of mutual seizure is violated, even if there is a difference in prices or an intention to donate a portion of the price, as that does not make usurious dealings permissible.
