Is it permissible to visit a deliberate murderer who has been released from prison?

Visiting a murderer is like visiting any other sinner: if he repents and fulfills his obligations, then visiting him is good. If he does not repent, then his visit should be considered in light of the Sharia (definition)'s best interest. If there is a benefit in visiting him, such as advising him, reminding him to repent, and hoping for his response, then there is no harm, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Religion is advice." However, if it is highly probable that the Sharia's best interest lies in shunning him so that he may abandon his wrongdoing, then he should not be visited. Shunning is not an end in itself, but rather for the betterment of people's conditions. Thus, if shunning leads to the sinner's restraint and the improvement of his condition, it is good. And if interaction leads to these benefits, it is more preferable than shunning.
