The question

What should I do about a vow I made out of ignorance, where I vowed to forgive part of a debt, lend someone an interest-free loan, and fast for three days, all upon my mother’s recovery from Corona, knowing that I later discovered that vows are disliked?

The answer

If your mother recovers, you are obligated to fulfill the vow. What is disliked is the initiation of a vow, not its fulfillment if it is an act of obedience. Allah Almighty has praised those who fulfill their vows: "They fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread." And in the : "Whoever vows to obey Allah, let him obey Him." A vow of obedience is obligatory to fulfill once the condition upon which the vow was made is met.
