What should a son do with money given to him by his father, knowing that the source of this money is usurious stocks?
Scholars have differed regarding the treatment of the actual wealth acquired through a void contract: one group has forbidden it, while another has permitted it because the sin is attached to the conscience of the acquirer, not to the wealth itself. The disagreement is concerning the actual wealth itself, but if it mixes with lawful wealth, then it is permissible. The wealth that a child takes from his father, acquired through an illicit means, is permissible for the child. However, purchasing riba-based shares with it or with anything else is forbidden, and he must repent and give the illicit profits in charity for charitable causes.
