We advise you to perform (prayer for guidance) and consult with people of sound judgment and experience. The money can be invested in low-risk projects such as Islamic banks. This is preferable to leaving it uninvested lest charity consumes it. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, whoever is a guardian of an orphan who has wealth, let him invest it and not leave it until charity consumes it." Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi. If the money is in an interest-based bank, withdraw it and donate its interest to public Muslim welfare.
