Is congregational prayer obligatory with one's mother at home if the mosque is far away?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on congregational prayer. According to the view that it is obligatory, it is incumbent upon anyone who hears the call to prayer. Based on this, you are not required to go to the mosque due to its distance. If your mother is with you at home, you must pray in congregation with her, as a congregation is formed by two people: an imam and a follower, even if the follower is a woman.
