Designating a specific day for delivering lectures or holding study circles is not an innovation (bid‘ah); rather, it is permissible due to overriding considerations, such as the scheduling of classes in schools. However, singling out a specific day for seeking knowledge, believing it to be uniquely designated for that purpose, is an innovation. Similarly, a group gathering to perform night prayers (qiyam al-layl) on a particular night is an innovation, because performing qiyam al-layl in congregation is not legislated, unless it occurs occasionally and unintentionally.
