Does saying "Assalamu Alaikum" or shaking hands with worshippers invalidate a man's prayer if he enters the mosque on Friday?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
It is disliked to initiate a greeting while the Imam is delivering the Friday sermon. The prayer is not invalidated by this, nor by exchanging handshakes. However, the reward might be diminished due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If you say to your companion on Friday, 'Listen!' while the Imam is delivering the sermon, you have engaged in idle talk."
