If a person is obligated to perform both ghusl of janabah and ghusl of Jumu'ah, how should he perform the ghusl in terms of intention and number of washes?

If a Muslim needs to perform both ghusl (definition) for janabah (definition) (major ritual impurity) and ghusl for Jumu'ah (Friday prayer), one single ghusl suffices, if he intends both (to cover both purifications) with it. This is based on the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, actions are by intentions." Jurists such as Imam Al-Nawawi and Ibn Qudamah have explicitly stated that this is sufficient. The two Sheikhs, Ibn Baz and Ibn Uthaymeen, also adopted this view. Ibn Uthaymeen clarified that whoever intends ghusl for janabah only, it suffices for the Jumu'ah ghusl if performed after sunrise. And whoever intends both will attain the reward for both. However, whoever intends ghusl for Jumu'ah only, it will not suffice for janabah.
