Is a Muslim excused for failing to attend Friday prayer and congregational prayers if he fears for his life, imprisonment, or being beaten due to sedition in his country?

Congregational prayer in the mosque is obligatory for able-bodied men, but the obligation of congregational prayer and Jumu'ah (Friday prayer) is conditional on there being no harm to a person's self, property, or family. This is based on the Almighty's saying: "And He has not placed upon you in religion any difficulty" and "Allah intends for you ease, and He does not intend for you hardship." One who fears for his life, property, or family is excused from abandoning the congregation and Jumu'ah. So, if a person fears for his life from murder or unjust imprisonment, it is permissible for him to pray at home.
