Is bathing on Friday obligatory, and is ablution (Wudu') required after it, and what should I do if I don't find time for bathing?

Scholars differed concerning the ruling on Ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) for Jumu'ah (Friday prayer). The majority held it to be recommended (mustahabb), while a group of the Salaf (early Muslims) deemed it obligatory (wajib (definition)). The preponderant opinion is that it is recommended, and this is adopted by the four madhhabs (schools of thought), who cite as evidence the hadith (definition): "Whoever performs ablution well, then comes to Jumu'ah...", and "Whoever performs ablution, that is good enough; and whoever performs ghusl, that is better." Most scholars have agreed that it is not obligatory. If performing ghusl would lead to missing the khutbah (definition) (sermon), then it is better to suffice with ablution, because ghusl is a sunnah (definition) (prophetic tradition) and not a condition for the validity of the prayer, as is evident from the story of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab with the Companion who entered the mosque late.
