Is it permissible to accept money for delivering the Friday sermon if the source of this money is not from the mosque's treasury but from a donating individual?

Scholars have differed regarding taking wages for acts of devotion. Some have absolutely prohibited it, while others have distinguished between benefits that extend to others and those that do not. Some have gone so far as to permit it, because it is a hiring for a known work for a known compensation, and this is the preferred view among many researchers, especially when there is a need and full dedication. The Permanent Committee has issued a fatwa (definition) permitting those in charge of mosque affairs to receive a salary for their work. Therefore, there is no harm in receiving sustenance (a livelihood) in exchange for your work as a preacher.
