The answer

Silence during prostration () does not necessitate a prostration of forgetfulness (sujud sahwe). However, it is not appropriate for the one prostrating to remain silent. Rather, it is for him to supplicate and to feel humility, for prostration is one of the positions where supplications are answered. And if he remains silent for a long time intentionally, outside of a short pillar, without a specific purpose, his prayer is not invalidated according to the soundest opinion.
