The question

Is the prostration of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw) obligatory if the worshiper does not remember the number of prostrations, and should the prostration of forgetfulness be performed after the first tasleem (salutation of peace) and before repeating the tashahhud and the Ibrahimiyah prayer?

The answer

If a worshipper doubts the number of prostrations, he should build upon the lesser number and perform a second prostration. Then, he should perform two prostrations of forgetfulness ( al-sahw) before the salutation (). As for one who experiences frequent doubts, he should disregard them.
