The answer

It is not permissible to rely on anything for prayer times except for the Shar'i (Islamic legal) signs or calendars issued by reliable Islamic organizations. The Fajr or Subh prayer is one of the obligatory prayers, and it is (recommended) to pray two light rak'ahs before it, called the Sunnah of Fajr or Al-Raghibah. Their time begins after the appearance of the true dawn, and one must differentiate them from the obligatory prayer by intention. The time for the Subh prayer extends until sunrise (Al-Shuruq), and the Shuruq prayer is recommended, not obligatory.
