What is the ruling on prayer for a woman who has a wound – from an operation – in her vagina, if the doctor advised against using water (istinja') to avoid bleeding from the wound?

If it is confirmed that the woman mentioned finds it difficult to use water for purification (istinja (definition)'), then wiping the area of impurity with a tissue or similar material until it is clean is sufficient for her. Some scholars say that there must be three wipes, even if cleanliness is achieved with fewer. It is mentioned in the fatwas of Sheikh Ibn Baz that cleansing with pure tissues three times or more until the impurity is removed is sufficient. Some scholars, such as the Malikis and Hanafis, have stated the validity of istinja' if cleanliness is achieved, even with fewer than three wipes.
