Is the hadith mentioned in Al-Tabarani Al-Kabeer concerning the description of the Prophet's prayer, which states: "The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when he was in his prayer, would raise his hands opposite his ears, then when he said 'Allahu Akbar', he would let them down, then he would be silent, and sometimes I saw him place his right hand over his left...," a fabricated or very weak hadith, as judged by a student of knowledge?

The jurists differed on the issue of qabd (placing hands on the chest) and sadl (letting hands hang by the sides) in prayer. The more accurate view is qabd due to the strength of its evidence. However, neither of the two views considers the prayer invalid if the other is adopted, because it is from the Sunnah (definition) and not from the obligations. Therefore, there is no need for debate on this issue. The aforementioned hadith (definition) is weak and not authentic.
