Where do we place our hands when calling the Adhan for prayer?

It is Sunnah (definition) for the muezzin to place his index fingers in his ears during the Adhan (definition), following the action of Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him). The jurists have agreed upon this, explaining that it amplifies the voice and serves as a sign indicating the Adhan for those who cannot hear the sound due to distance or deafness. However, it is not recommended to place the fingers in the ears during the Iqamah (definition).
