Is the Sunnah prayer of Fajr to be performed after the time for the Fajr prayer begins, or after the Adhan which is before the time for the prayer?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
The time for the supererogatory () prayers does not begin until the time for the obligatory (Fard) prayer has commenced. If a Muslim performs them before the time for the obligatory prayer has entered, they are not counted as Sunnah prayers and become merely an absolute voluntary (Nafl) prayer. It is more cautious to repeat the Sunnah prayer if it was performed with doubt about the entry of the prayer time.
