If the period of menstruation and purity exceeds fifteen days, then the discharges that follow are not considered menstruation, whether they are an extension of the first menstruation or a new menstruation. This is because the maximum duration of menstruation is fifteen days, and the minimum duration of purity is fifteen days. These discharges are considered blood of fasad (dysfunctional bleeding). If they are continuous such that they do not stop for prayer time, then the woman must perform ablution for each prayer after the time for it has begun. However, if they do stop, she is not required to perform ablution for each prayer unless her ablution is invalidated by another factor. A ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) is not required for these discharges unless they are semen.
