Is a mother who suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder and takes a very long time to perform ghusl – to the extent that she misses more than one prayer – to be blamed, knowing that she is bedridden and tires those who serve her, and does not like anyone to approach her?

It is not permissible for a resident to combine two prayers except for a legitimate Shar’i excuse, and waswasa (whispering/obsessive thoughts) is not an excuse that permits it. Each prayer must be performed at its appointed time, and it is not obligatory to perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) daily without a legitimate Shar’i reason. You must advise your mother gently and kindly.
