Is it necessary to refrain from shaking water off the hands after ablution?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
There is no harm in shaking off one's hands after ablution (Wudu'). It has been authentically reported from Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not ask for a cloth but instead began shaking off the water from his hand. This is evidence that it is permissible to shake off water from the limbs during both (ritual bath) and wudu'. As for the , "Do not shake off your hands after ablution, for they are fans of Satan," it is very weak; some scholars have even declared it to be fabricated, and it is not suitable to be used as a proof.
