However, according to the Hanbalis, it is permissible and even recommended for a menstruating woman to perform ghusl for janabah during her menstruation. Furthermore, a menstruating woman is not permitted to recite the Qur'an according to the majority of scholars. Nevertheless, the Malikis permit her to recite, even if she is in a state of janabah, and it is permissible to adopt this view. She will be rewarded for her recitation even if it is considered impermissible by some scholars. Completing the recitation of the entire Qur'an is recommended, not obligatory.
