The maximum duration of postpartum bleeding () is forty days. If a woman becomes pure before this time, she should perform (ritual bath), pray, and sexual intercourse with her becomes permissible, because there is no minimum limit for nifas. There is no disfavor in engaging in sexual intercourse with her if she becomes pure and prays before the forty days, according to the majority of scholars, and this is the most valid opinion.
