For one who is in a state of (major ritual impurity), ablution (wudu’) is not sufficient. Rather, a full ritual bath () is obligatory, based on Allah’s Almighty saying: “And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves” (Quran 5:6). And based on the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: “If he sits between her four limbs and then exerts himself, ghusl becomes obligatory upon him.” In another narration: “If the circumcised part touches the circumcised part, ghusl becomes obligatory.”
