Is washing clothes on Friday forbidden or an innovation (Bid'ah)?
The Lawgiver has emphatically commanded (ritual bath) on Friday, so that Muslims may be in the best state of cleanliness and purity when they gather. This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Ghusl on Friday is obligatory upon every pubescent person." The intended meaning of "obligatory" here is to emphasize its desirability (mustahabb).
