If a woman sees menstrual blood at a time when it is possible for it to be menstruation, then it is considered menstruation, even if it is not at her usual time. This is because the habit (period) may come earlier or later, or its duration may increase or decrease. She must stop praying upon seeing this blood. Then, when she sees purity by one of two signs (the white discharge or complete dryness), she should perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) and pray, as long as all of this occurs within the menstrual period (15 days). The purity she observed before the return of the blood is considered valid purity.
