What is the maximum period one can remain in a state of janabah before performing ghusl? Is it forbidden to perform any actions, such as walking or cooking, before performing ghusl from janabah? Is it permissible to delay ghusl until the time of the next prayer?

There is no specific duration for remaining in a state of janabah (definition) (major ritual impurity). Rather, ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) is obligatory for performing prayers and acts of worship that require purity. It is recommended to hasten ghusl so that a Muslim remains in a state of purity, and because angels do not approach a person in a state of janabah unless he performs wudu (ablution). A person in a state of janabah is not impure in a physical sense, nor do things he touches become impure. It is permissible for him to touch various objects, as has been established in the noble Prophetic Sunnah (definition).
