What is the ruling on changing underwear upon waking up, whether at night or during the day, due to dampness or white spots, and does this entail any hardship?

If a person finds moisture on their garment upon waking and doubts whether it is maniyy (spermatic fluid), then according to the Hanbalis and Malikis, ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) is obligatory. Maniyy is considered pure according to the most authoritative opinion, but it is recommended to wash it from the garment to avoid the disagreement of those who deem it impure. However, if the discharge is not maniyy, then it is impure and must be washed from the garment and body, and it does not necessitate ghusl. It is preferable to designate a specific garment for sleep or to protect oneself with a cloth.
