If a drop of blood appears on the outer vulva during the possible time [of menstruation], it is considered menses, and ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) is required after seeing the sign of purity. The majority of scholars do not consider this drop as menses if it is isolated and not preceded by anything that would make its total amount menses. However, if it combines with previous blood and their total exceeds a day and a night, then it is not considered non-menstrual. Some scholars might say it is not menses for reasons other than exceeding a day and a night.
