The answer

Beginning the ritual bath () for major ritual impurity () before removing impurities from the private parts goes against the , because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would begin by washing his hands, then his private parts, before pouring water over the rest of his body.

However, if a person performs ghusl while there are impurities on his private parts, his ghusl is valid, but it does not suffice for ablution (wudu'), and he must perform wudu' for prayer.

It is preferable to begin by washing the hands, private parts, and the surrounding area, then complete the ghusl, so as to emerge in a state of complete purity.
